Challenging Cases in Wound Management, Part 1
This two-part presentation will focus on management strategies for a variety of challenging wounds. We will discuss wound assessment, methods of open wound management, and methods of wound closure. Numerous case examples will be presented and discussed in an interactive manner. We will also review the latest techniques in wound management, including vacuum-assisted wound therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and others.
- 1) Determination of when a wound is ready to be closed or should be left for open wound management.
- 2) Familiarity and comfort with numerous methods of open wound management.
- 3) Methods of closing large wounds without tension.
